Amanda was a completely unique and beautiful individual, and will be remembered for her fearlessness, commitment to helping others, and constant drive for happiness. She enjoyed every moment she got to spend surrounded by her friends and family.

Her Story
CHARLESTON, SC - Amanda Paige Obi, proud mother of two, Dylan Jackson (23) and Braylyn Jackson (15), passed away on Sunday, October 19th at her home. She was born on July 14th, 1974 in Arlington, Virginia.
Amanda spent the majority of her youth in Charlotte, North Carolina alongside her two siblings and parents. She went to East Carolina University before getting an interior design degree from Winthrop. Amanda knew Mark Jackson in high school, but it wasn't until after college the two were reunited and started dating. They were married for 13 years. She would have two sons with Mark before separating in 2012. Amanda became an experienced college registrar for several schools over the course of 20+ years.
Amanda found pleasure and company in many aspects of her life: poker nights or visiting the beach with friends, rolling grape leaves with her family, and talking to anyone about everything in-between. She found her inspiration through paintings and art of all kinds, singing her favorite songs, and trying all sorts of new foods.
Amanda always knew she wanted to be a mother, she'd told her kids: "The one thing I always knew even as a kid, is that I always wanted to be a mom."
She is survived by her two sons, Dylan and Braylyn Jackson, twin sister Jacquie Obi Carlen and husband Mike Carlen, younger brother Jake Obi and wife Jen Obi, father Jim Obi and step-mother Robin Obi, nephews Pete Thiessen, Jack Obi, and Jesse Obi, and dogs Ziggy and Leia.
Amanda is preceded in death by her mother Sandra Carole Stewart Obi.

Celebration of Life
Amanda was very explicit about her end-of-life plans. She wanted her celebration of life to be one of joy, happiness, and remembrance - rather than of sadness or grief.
We honored her wishes through a celebration that took place on November 1st, 2025 overlooking the Charleston Harbor. We had a beautiful venue and wonderful sunset to celebrate her life.
Thank you to all who attended and supported the celebration of Amanda's life. We are grateful for the love and support you shared, and we had a wonderful time celebrating her.
She would have enjoyed seeing everyone there, wearing tie-dye shirts and sharing memories - the family made over 250 tie-dye shirts to hand out at the event.
